We are working with a well-established, multidisciplinary building services consultancy seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing Leeds office. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to develop their technical expertise while working on a diverse range of innovative and sustainable projects.

This is a permanent, full-time role operating within a flexible and agile working framework.

The Role
As an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality mechanical building services designs across a variety of sectors including healthcare, education, residential, commercial and industrial.

You will be involved at every stage of projects, from concept design through to completion, working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work on a wide range of technically challenging projects across multiple sectors
  • Participate in all stages of project delivery
  • Produce drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Carry out mechanical design calculations using both manual and software-based methods
  • Monitor your own work to ensure quality, programme and budget compliance
  • Liaise with other design disciplines to understand client requirements and support appropriate solution selection
  • Contribute to technical coordination across disciplines
  • Attend and represent the business at selected project meetings
  • Integrate sustainability principles and low/zero carbon (LZC) technologies into designs
  • Undertake site visits and review contractor installations for compliance with design intent
  • Engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD) to stay current with industry developments
  • Develop an understanding of electrical systems to support multidisciplinary collaboration

About You
  • Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND also considered)
  • Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience in building services design
  • Experience using design software such as Microsoft Office, Relux/Dialux, Amtech and Revit
  • Knowledge of British and European Standards and Building Regulations
  • Awareness of HTMs (desirable but not essential)
  • Working towards or holding professional membership (CIBSE, IET or similar)
  • Understanding of renewable technologies and sustainable design integration
  • Working knowledge of BREEAM
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Proactive, organised and committed to professional growth
