A well-established manufacturer within the luxury interiors sector is looking to recruit a Technical CAD / Product Development Engineer to join their growing team in Birmingham.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a company known for producing high-quality, precision-engineered products used by architects, designers and developers across the globe. The business places strong emphasis on craftsmanship, innovation, and continuous improvement within its engineering and manufacturing teams.

The Role
As a Technical CAD / Product Development Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing new products while supporting manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and production-ready.
You will work closely with both engineering and production teams, creating detailed technical drawings and ensuring designs meet the highest quality and manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing and developing products using CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor
  • Producing detailed technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing
  • Checking and reviewing technical drawings for accuracy and quality
  • Working closely with the production and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible
  • Supporting the shop floor with technical queries and product development
  • Ensuring designs are optimised for manufacturing efficiency
  • Assisting with technical documentation and product specifications

Requirements
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Autodesk Inventor or similar)
  • Good knowledge of metals and machining processes
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Desirable (Not Essential)
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault
  • Experience designing door or cabinet hardware
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline
  • Experience with shop floor machining or manufacturing environments
  • Experience producing BOMs (Bills of Materials) and manufacturing documentation
