Design Engineer
Telford 

We are recruiting an experienced Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business that delivers end-to-end engineering solutions to customers across the food sector and other regulated industries.
The business provides a full in-house service, including CAD design, sheet metal fabrication, conveyor solutions, structural steelwork, laser cutting, site installation, and machine maintenance.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and production teams, taking customer concepts from initial idea through to full design ready for manufacture, delivering bespoke, purpose-built equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the design of multiple concurrent projects
  • Develop cost-effective engineering solutions for both new and existing products
  • Design complete systems, including sub-assemblies and mechanical mechanisms
  • Contribute to product development and continuous improvement activities
  • Validate designs through design reviews, stress considerations, tolerance analysis, and testing
  • Support prototype development and refinement prior to manufacture
  • Work collaboratively with production, installation, and management teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable

Required Skills & Experience
  • Degree-level qualification in Design or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong competence in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Proven experience in sheet metal design, conveyors, and general mechanical equipment
  • Experience testing and evaluating prototypes
  • Ability to use a variety of measuring equipment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work to deadlines and meet or exceed targets
  • Experience within the food industry is desirable but not essential
