Job Description

Wastewater Networks Operative (Sewerage Maintenance Operative)
6 month contract, 40 hours per week
4 x 10 Hour shifts (Monday-Friday 07:00-17:30)
Hourly rate up to £17.02 (depending on experience)


Pertemps are thrilled to be partnering with Northumbrian Water to expand their Wastewater team. This role is a mobile role and you will be travelling across the North East to maintain the sewerage networks and pipes. You will report to a depot, collect your van and receive your schedule through a smartphone. Your main focus will be ensuring wastewater is properly transferred from properties to treatment facilities, this will mostly involve proactive inspections and maintenance.

You must be flexible with a can-do attitude and great customer service and be happy to work outside in all weather. This role will also involve some confined spaces experience due to the nature of the job. This role is subject to passing a DBS check.

Key responsibilities
  • To ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of self, other members of the team and the public is not compromised
  • Take personal responsibility for delivering and communicating excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Provide a rapid response to failures on the sewerage network and investigate cause of the issues
  • Ensure serviceability and condition of the sewerage network asset base is maintained by effectively completing the planned preventative maintenance programme
  • Accurately record all job details from site on the electronic devices and on any paper forms used
  • To operate and maintain jetting, CCTV and plant equipment for the purpose which it is intended for as long as training has been provided
  • To participate in and ensure that an effective 24 hour Extended Working Hour (EWH) and standby rota service is provided
  • To create and maintain effective working relationships with line manager and colleagues and work effectively as part of the team to ensure optimum team performance
Essential:
  • Driving Licence
  • Physically fit for manual handling of heavy manhole covers

Desirable:
  • Risk Assessment Awareness
  • Operating Jetting Equipment
  • Basic understanding of day to day sewerage network operations
  • Problem Solving - investigate, understand and solve issues on the sewerage network
  • Attention to detail - accurately record all information on both the devices and paper forms
