Pertemps are pleased to be working with Northumbrian Water to recruit an Environmental Permitting Administrator to support the Permitting Team in maintaining environmental compliance across water operations. This role provides key administrative and coordination support to ensure environmental permits are kept up to date and environmental incidents are accurately recorded and reported.
This position would suit a graduate in an environmental-related subject or an experienced administrator with an interest in environmental protection, sustainability, or the water industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and environmental compliance support to Technical Advisors in the preparation and submission of environmental permit applications and renewals.
- Assist with the coordination of site audits, including organising documentation, tracking actions, and maintaining audit records.
- Liaise with operational teams to gather environmental data, evidence, and supporting information following suspected pollution incidents.
- Support the preparation of draft environmental impact and incident reports using established templates and guidance.
- Collate, update, and manage environmental compliance data, including accurate use of the Pollution Management System.
- Maintain organised and auditable records to support regulatory and environmental reporting requirements.
- Work collaboratively within the WINEP & Permitting Team to support environmental permitting and pollution incident management activities.
- Provide administrative guidance to internal teams on environmental documentation, monitoring processes, and reporting requirements.
About You
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent experience in environmental science, sustainability, geography, or a related subject, or strong administrative experience within a regulated environment
- Basic knowledge or interest in environmental legislation, compliance, or the water industry.
- Full, clean driving licence with the ability to travel to operational sites when required.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a varied workload.
- Good written communication and report-writing skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in an environmental, sustainability, or compliance-focused role.
- Previous experience within the water, utilities, or environmental sector.
