About the Role

We’re seeking experienced Senior to Associate Electrical Design Engineers to join a reputable building services consultancy with a strong footprint in Plymouth. You’ll be working on technically challenging and sustainable projects across healthcare, education, commercial, and residential sectors, helping deliver innovative MEP designs with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop detailed electrical designs including power distribution, lighting, fire and life safety, and building management systems
• Prepare and review complex calculations, specifications, single-line diagrams, and detailed CAD/Revit drawings
• Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout all project stages
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, supporting their development and growth
• Ensure all designs meet current UK standards and regulations, including BS 7671 and CIBSE guidelines
• Drive sustainable design practices and incorporate low-carbon technologies into projects
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and quality assurance processes

Candidate Profile

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline
• Typically 5+ years’ experience in building services electrical design within consultancy or similar environments
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (BIM)
• Proven technical expertise in electrical system design and knowledge of UK electrical standards
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
• Passion for sustainable engineering and innovation
• Chartered status (CEng, IEng) or working towards chartership is preferred
