Principal Highway Engineer
£52,000 - £65,000

We’re working with a growing consultancy seeking a Principal Highway Engineer to join their Manchester team. This is a key role for an experienced engineer looking to lead technical delivery, mentor junior staff and play a central part in the continued growth of the regional highways and infrastructure offering.

The Role

Lead the design and delivery of highway infrastructure projects from feasibility through to construction
Take technical ownership of schemes, ensuring compliance with current UK design standards
Oversee and review designs, including alignments, junctions, drainage interfaces and technical submissions
Manage and mentor engineers and technicians, supporting their technical development
Liaise directly with clients, contractors and approving authorities
Prepare and review technical reports, drawings and approval packages
Contribute to fee proposals, programme planning and project resourcing
Support business development and the continued growth of the Manchester office

What we’re looking for

Extensive UK consultancy experience in highway design and infrastructure
Strong knowledge of DMRB, Manual for Streets, MCHW and CDM Regulations
Proven experience leading projects and managing technical teams
Proficient in AutoCAD; Civil 3D experience beneficial
Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE / CIHT) preferred
