Are you an experienced leader in adult social care with a passion for supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism? We’re looking for a dedicated Deputy Care Manager to help lead the team at Ashchurch Day Centre, delivering a high-quality, person-centred service that truly makes a difference.

About the Role

As Deputy Care Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the centre. You’ll support the Service Manager by overseeing daily activities, supervising a team of six (including agency staff), and taking full operational responsibility when required.
Your focus will be on providing excellent care and support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and challenging behaviour—empowering individuals to gain confidence, independence, and life skills through meaningful activities and progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise, and support a team providing day-to-day care and learning opportunities.
  • Take operational responsibility for the centre in the manager’s absence, ensuring a safe, compliant, and positive environment.
  • Promote person-centred care and ensure all activities meet individual needs and goals.
  • Support the management of budgets, health & safety, and service development.
  • Maintain effective communication with families, carers, social workers, and external partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement and uphold high standards in line with legislation and best practice.
About You

We’re seeking someone with the right mix of compassion, leadership, and organisational skill to help adults live the life they want.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:
  • Health & Social Care Level 3 (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.
  • At least 2 years’ management or supervisory experience (including team meetings, performance reviews, and service planning).
  • Strong communication skills and experience building effective partnerships across stakeholders.
  • Proficient IT and reporting skills (Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and case recording systems).
  • Knowledge of safeguarding (particularly S.42), health & safety, manual handling, and PBS strategies.
Desirable:
  • Diploma in Health & Social Care Level 5 or management qualification.
If you’re passionate about creating inclusive, empowering environments for adults with additional needs—and ready to lead a dedicated team—we’d love to hear from you.
