THE ROLE:
An established UK professional regulator is seeking an experienced Head of Regulation to lead its Fitness to Practise and wider regulatory functions. This is a senior leadership role in a small, mission-driven organisation, offering significant strategic influence alongside hands-on responsibility.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and working closely with the Board of Trustees, the Head of Regulation will have end-to-end responsibility for the Fitness to Practise framework, ensuring complaints are managed fairly, efficiently and in line with regulatory best practice. The role combines operational delivery, strategic development and senior stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities will include managing Fitness to Practise cases from initial receipt through to final hearing and appeal, line manage a Senior Paralegal, draft and update regulatory guidance, policies and procedures, prepare Board and committee papers and provide fitness to practice data and analysis.
As a key member of the senior leadership team you will also be contributing to organisational strategy and continuous improvement, and will deputise for the Chief Executive when required.

THE CANDIDATE:
This role is suited to a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience. You should be qualified to practice in England & Wales and be able to hold a practising certificate. You will possess significant experience within a healthcare regulator or equivalent regulatory environment and will have strong experience managing hearings and complex Fitness to Practise cases. You will be able to demonstrate experience working with vulnerable witnesses, complainants and registrants alongside excellent communication skills and professional judgement.
