JOB TITLE: Criminal Defence Solicitor
PQE REQUIRED: 1+
LOCATION: Greater Manchester
SALARY: £38,000 DOE

THE ROLE:
This is an exceptional opportunity for a Criminal Defence Solicitor to join a busy and regarded criminal defence team, undertaking a varied caseload of general defence and regulatory prosecution matters. The appointed Criminal Defence Solicitor will manage files from start to finish, with responsibilities including drafting legal documentation, taking detailed statements from clients and witnesses, instructing and liaising with counsel, reviewing evidence and completing regular file reviews. The position offers the chance to gain hands-on experience across a broad spectrum of criminal casework, with further exposure to prosecution work.

THE CANDIDATE:
Applications are welcomed from experienced Paralegals, Legal Executives or qualified Solicitors who hold police station accreditation. While prior prosecution experience would be advantageous, it is not essential, as full training will be provided. Police station accreditation is required for this role, or the successful candidate must be actively working towards obtaining it. You will demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy and varied caseload effectively, handling matters with minimal supervision while maintaining a high standard of client care. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the confidence to liaise professionally with clients, counsel, courts and external agencies. The ideal candidate will have a proactive and adaptable approach, a keen eye for detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
In return, the firm offers a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package, and clear opportunities for career progression, including training contracts, promotions and professional accreditations.
