Lead Vertical Transportation Design on Landmark UK Projects
This is an opportunity to take a visible, leadership role in shaping vertical transportation design across complex, high-value building projects, including high-rise residential and large-scale developments.
You will work alongside well-established industry experts, with the autonomy to influence design decisions, engage clients directly, and play a key role in growing a specialist function within a respected engineering consultancy.
If you are looking to move beyond pure design into technical leadership and business influence, this role is structured to support that progression.

What’s on Offer
  • Structured career progression into leadership
  • Agile working framework with flexibility across UK offices
  • Enhanced annual leave (with buy/sell options)
  • Enhanced family leave policies
  • Cycle to Work and Electric Vehicle schemes
  • Employee Assistance Programme and wellbeing support
  • Regular team, social, and charitable initiatives
  • Exposure to technically challenging, design-led projects

The Role
  • Lead vertical transportation design strategy, including lift selection, sizing, speed calculations, and traffic analysis for complex buildings
  • Provide technical authority across projects, supporting MEP teams with specialist lift engineering expertise
  • Produce and review specifications, schedules, and technical documentation
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments of existing lift installations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams across all project stages
  • Support client engagement and business development, helping secure and grow project opportunities
  • Contribute to commissioning and project delivery, ensuring performance and compliance
About You
Essential:
  • Proven experience in vertical transportation / lift design within consultancy or lift contractor environments
  • Strong capability in lift traffic analysis, system design, and engineering calculations
  • Experience delivering projects across sectors such as residential (high-rise), commercial, or mixed-use developments
  • Ability to operate within multi-disciplinary building services (MEP) teams
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage clients and stakeholders
Desirable:
  • Experience contributing to business development or client relationship management
  • Familiarity with Revit or BIM environments
  • Exposure to sustainable / low-carbon building design
  • Degree, HNC, or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
The Opportunity
  • Clear pathway into team leadership or management
  • Opportunity to build and grow a vertical transportation capability within an established consultancy
  • Work on high-profile, technically complex building projects
  • Move into a client-facing, commercially influential role, not just design delivery
  • Join a business actively investing in sustainability and net-zero engineering solutions
