Pertemps are delighted to be working with our public sector client to recruit a Housing Assistant on a temporary basis.

Role: Housing Assistant
Location: East Edinburgh
Hours: Monday to Friday (36 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £14.02 per hour
Duration: Temporary ongoing
Start Date: Immediate

This post requires a Basic Disclosure check which will cost £25.
 

This role sits within a busy housing service and supports Housing Officers with the day-to-day administration involved in allocating and managing housing stock across the city.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting direct lets across public sector stock, Wheatley Homes and Housing Associations
  • Assisting Housing Officers with a range of administrative tasks
  • Reviewing lists of people in temporary accommodation to identify suitable nominations for available properties
  • Contacting suitable applicants by phone to discuss potential housing offers
  • Managing email correspondence and responding to enquiries
  • Navigating internal housing systems and updating records accurately
  • Maintaining spreadsheets and updating information using Excel
  • Providing general administrative support to the housing team as required

This role involves regular contact with applicants and colleagues, requiring a professional, clear and empathetic approach.
 
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven administrative experience in a busy office or customer-focused environment
  • Comfortable and confident speaking to people on the phone
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (updating spreadsheets) and Outlook
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
  • A proactive, reliable and team-focused approach
Desirable:
  • Experience within housing, allocations, or a local authority environment
