Production Manager

A long established and growing business based in the West Midlands are looking for a hands-on Production Manager to lead a multi‑discipline manufacturing operation. You will own day-to-day production performance, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, to cost and to the right quality standards. Reporting into the Managing Director; the ideal candidate will have exposure to heavy engineering such as Fabrications, Pressing, Forging, Stampings, Sheet Metal & strong on process flow and capacity planning and strong in leading and developing teams.

The business have a clear expansion plan and are looking to grow further but will need a good Production Manager to help this growth. 
 
Role: Production Manager
Salary: up to £53,000 per annum + benefits
Location: West Midlands (commutable from Dudley, Kingswinford, Kidderminster, West Brom, Wolverhampton) 
 
 
Responsibilities of the Production Manager
 

• Plan and control production schedules across all manufacturing areas
• Lead both pre‑production planning (ERP/MRP scheduling, resource planning, material readiness) and live production execution on the shopfloor.
• Work hard to develop & ensure a safe working environment, audit readiness, clean (5S) work areas and robust corrective actions.
• Monitor labour efficiency, scrap, machine utilisation, overtime and budget performance, identifying and delivering cost and productivity improvements.
• Oversee multi functional teams across the business 
• Work hard to create a robustness around KPIs and SOPs. 
• Collaborate with all internal stakeholders to maintain a strong process flow 
• Lead, coach and develop production teams, set clear objectives, run reviews, and maintain skills matrices and cross‑training plans.

 
 
Requirements of the Production Manager
 

• Proven experience in a production leadership role within a heavier manufacturing environment 
• A qualification in Engineering would be ideal (ILM Level 3 to 5) 
• Good understanding of Metal based manufacturing 
• Strong analytical skills, comfortable working with KPIs & SOPs
• Strong Lean toolbox (Kaizen, Six Sigma, CI Skills)
• A modern direct line managment approach
