Role: Health Safety, Environment and Training Manager
Salary: £60-65K depending on experience + package
Based: Office in Bristol covering national projects
 
Excited to represent a passionate, employee owned, electrical contractor who provides a range of technical and electrical support to clients within the entertainment, theatre and arts industry.
 
Seeking a HSE leader to come and support them in-house, to help them raise the bar for safety, mature the safety culture and behaviours of the workforce by drive ownership and empowering the workforce. Also, strengthen and improve their training standards. Ensure that the company is fit for the future, by protecting them from upcoming risks and harnessing emerging technology.  Within this position, will be exposed to a variety of fast paced facilities, covering a wide range of risks across the UK and be able to put your own stamp on safety.
 
Company: Electrical Contractor Operating 24/7, covering the fields of electrical design, installation, project management and test and inspections.
 
Job Description:
  • Provide competent advice to the Directors and COO to ensure that that the company can make informed decisions about Safety priorities as part of it’s day to day activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Health and Safety policies and procedures to comply with UK legislation.
  • Provide safety leadership and support to Site Supervisors, Project Managers, and other team members.
  • Champion a positive safety culture, encouraging proactive reporting and engagement with Health and Safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to ensure comprehensive RAMS are provided for all projects.
  • Ensure that they fulfil its legal duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2015 as Contractor, Principal Contractor or Principal Designer.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients to ensure all projects are undertaken with collaborative safety as a priority.
  • Conduct regular safety walks & audits to ensure safe working conditions and identify potential hazards.
  • Lead incident investigations, report findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Report all Statutory Notifiable Incidents or Injuries to the relevant authority (HSE, EA etc.).
  • Manage the companies safety accreditations and memberships of safety related associations.
  • Design and deliver a comprehensive training programme for all staff, including keeping records of training and managing refresher periods and requalification.
  • Identify opportunities for staff to enhance their knowledge and personal development, creating a pipeline of individuals ready for additional responsibilities.
  • Ensure all new employees undergo a structured safety induction.
  • Coordinate the delivery of industry-standard vocational qualifications for craft occupations.
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks, safety briefings, and knowledge-sharing sessions to promote awareness and understanding of health and safety issues within electrical installations
  • Oversee the implementation of environmental management practices and sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting best practices across the organization.
  • Ensure the company is fit for the future, look for innovative ways to develop technology and allow them to be one step ahead.
 
Qualifications and background:
  • NEBOSH Certificate or , IOSH Level 3 or equivalent is essential
  • Experience with electrical and construction-based projects
  • CDM qualifications or project experience
  • Strong experience with IT software, who is aware of emerging technologies
  • Understanding and experience of public facing environments ideally Events, Production, Broadcasting, Charities, Retail, Exhibition Centres, Leisure sectors etc. A personal interest and passion for the arts, theatre and live entertainment industry
