Work Style: Hybrid - 2 days in the office, 3 days from home (flexibility required)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £13.90 per hour
Start Date: 18th May 2026
Assignment Type: Temporary (9 weeks) until 30th June 2026
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail‑focused Minute‑Taker / Business Support Officer to support our clients Children & Young People’s Services team. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring statutory meetings are accurately recorded, supporting independent chairs, and contributing to the safeguarding and wellbeing of children and families.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate, non‑verbatim minutes for CYP statutory meetings within required timescales.
- Summarise complex discussions into clear, high‑quality documents.
- Support independent chairs in creating or updating written child protection plans.
- Assist in producing accessible, abridged versions of plans for young people and families.
- Record meeting attendees and maintain accurate contact information.
- Ensure secure handling and storage of sensitive information.
- Input minute‑related data into IT systems.
- Suggest improvements to processes, customer experience, and best practice.
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the grade.
- GCSEs A*–C / 9–4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification/experience in business support.
- Strong knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Willingness to undertake learning and development.
- Confident use of Microsoft Office and web‑based software.
- Demonstrable administrative experience and understanding of office procedures.
- Experience delivering effective customer service.
- Experience working collaboratively within a team.
- Proven minute‑taking and note‑taking experience.
- Basic understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Awareness of Children, Young People and Families services.
- Broad understanding of safeguarding issues
- Business support experience within statutory children’s services.
- Ability to identify key information during discussions and summarise clearly.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain concentration during lengthy or sensitive meetings.
- Emotional resilience and awareness of when to seek support.
- Strong literacy skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective time‑management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Team‑working skills to deliver a cohesive service.
- Uphold data protection, confidentiality, and information governance standards.
- Work in line with legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and Council policies.
- Follow Health & Safety policies and safe systems of work.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
