Job Description
The successful candidate will set and deliver a strategy, to tackle ground water infiltration in Thames Valley Waste Networks. You therefore must be comfortable reviewing data / insight in order to target priority catchments.
You will be responsible for developing multiple viable options, presenting clear recommendations, developing business cases to secure funding from around the business (opex and/or capex) and overseeing the delivery solution.
You will be travelling between these Thames Water sites - Hybrid - Kidlington - OX5 1QT, Hybrid - Reading (STW) - RG2 0RP, Hybrid - Walnut Court - SN2 8BN
What will you be doing as a Technical Manager
- Use insight, including infiltration investigations, historic spend, SFHD and NIRs data to devise an infiltration strategy to primarily reduce tanker spend and Pollution incidents, and deliver the strategy.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally, to support the funding of CAPEX (and occasionally OXEX) work.
- Deliver Minor Capital Works programmes, gathering quotes and presenting the required solution to risk for funding approval.
- Overseeing works being delivered by contractors, issuing permits to work and ensuring good health and safety practises.
- Provide technical support to the local teams, facilitating their continued personal development, as well as guidance when dealing with complex issues.
- Review the flow management plans for our large spend infiltration areas with the Field Engineer and Logistics team to ensure all options have been assessed, and the most appropriate plans are documented and executed when applicable. To ensure these are understood by the various stakeholders, whilst fostering excellent relationships and working practices amongst the teams and individuals.
- Carry out Health and Safety audits of contractors, sites, and internal teams for compliance with the relevant standards and regulations. Reporting and resolving issues identified where appropriate. Operating under Thames Water’s Zero Compromise approach to H&S
- Potential to take part in the regional Out of Hours Co-ordinator rota. (approx. 1 in 6 weeks)
What should you bring to the role?
- Strong technical experience in Waste Networks.
- Skilled in finding cost-conscious solutions to technical network issues.
- NEBOSH / IOSH: Strong knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and application. (desirable)
- Good IT skills. (especially Excel, powerpoint)
- Ability to interrogate data via VISTEC and Sales Force. (desirable)
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.(essential)
- A full UK driving license is essential.
