You will be based at Staines (PS) - TW18 4HA.

What you will be doing as an Abstraction Engineer
  • As an Abstraction Engineer, you’ll play a key role in protecting and improving our assets.
  • You’ll identify and escalate short- and long-term risks to asset performance and resilience, ensuring they are reflected on our area heatmap.
  • You’ll scope projects in collaboration with colleagues and produce formal briefs for our Capital Maintenance Projects team, as well as influence longer-term asset plans using condition data and technical justification for Capital Delivery.
  • You’ll oversee enabling activities for capital projects, including asset availability, operational strategies, and health and safety documentation.
  • You’ll also ensure compliance with Reservoir Safety regulations and our internal standards, working closely with Supervising Engineers and attending interim and annual inspections.
  • Throughout, you’ll prioritise safety and water quality, contribute to effective maintenance planning, and seek opportunities to improve efficiency and innovation through the use of new technology and data.
What should you bring to the role?
  • Bring strong leadership with a clear focus on safety and water quality.
  • An understanding of regulatory environments, and how it affects operations – Reservoir Safety is key.
  • Organisation, prioritisation and a proven ability to work at pace.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and teamwork.
  • Previous experience from a utility, or other process industry would be beneficial.
  • A technical or engineering background would be beneficial however, not essential.
 What’s in it for you?
  • Offering a salary up to £57,000 depending on previous experience.
  • Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service (Plus bank holidays)
  • Generous Pension Scheme through AON
  • Access to lots of benefits to help you take care of you and your family’s health and wellbeing, and your finances – from annual health MOTs and access to physiotherapy and counselling, to Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.
