Job Description – Courier Staff (Croydon)

Pay Rate: £15.68 per hour
Overtime Premium: £23.48 per hour
Hours: 08:30 – 18:30
Days: Monday to Friday
Deliveries: 70–80 per day
Contract Type: Temporary, with potential to become permanent for the right individual

Role Overview

We are looking for reliable, hardworking Temporary Couriers to join a leading international courier service in Croydon. The role involves completing 70–80 deliveries per day, so a strong level of fitness, accuracy, and customer service is essential. The position has the potential to become permanent for outstanding performers.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete daily courier routes efficiently and safely.
• Carry out 70–80 deliveries per day within expected timeframes.
• Lift and handle parcels of varying sizes—work can be physically demanding.
• Ensure all Proof of Delivery (POD) and required paperwork are completed accurately.
• Use handheld scanners or computer systems to record and update delivery information.
• Follow all site instructions and training, working without the need for supervision.
• Maintain professional behaviour and provide excellent customer service at all times.
• Wear site-issued uniform when applicable.
• Operate material‑handling equipment if certified (where required).

Skills & Requirements

• Able to read, write and understand English sufficiently to complete paperwork and follow instructions.
• Basic numeracy and strong visual accuracy.
• Computer‑literate enough to use scanning devices and delivery software.
• Smart appearance in line with DHL or site standards.
• Good interpersonal skills and a professional, customer‑focused attitude.
• Physically capable of meeting the demands of a high‑volume delivery route.
• Able to work independently and follow instructions without supervision.
• Relevant equipment‑operation certificates if applicable.
• Committed to completing all relevant delivery documents, as incomplete paperwork may delay timesheet approval.
