Pertemps are delighted to be working with our public sector client to recruit an Administrative Assistant on a temporary basis.


📣 Role: Administrative Assistant – Housing Benefits

📍 Location: Edinburgh East

🕒 Hours: Monday to Friday (36 hours per week)

💷 Pay Rate: £14.02 per hour

📅 Duration: Temporary ongoing

🔑 Start Date: Immediate

This role sits within the Revenues and Benefits service and supports a busy, fast-moving housing team providing vital assistance to residents across the city.

🛠 What You’ll Be Doing
  • Providing reliable administrative support through telephone, email, and online communication.
  • Assisting customers with Housing Benefit applications, funding queries, and general housing-related enquiries.
  • Managing the Revenues and Benefits mailbox, ensuring all correspondence is handled promptly and accurately.
  • Processing and updating financial transactions and client records using internal IT systems.
  • Maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Supporting team operations through accurate record-keeping and administrative duties.
  • Communicating confidently, calmly, and empathetically with clients in challenging situations.
  • Working collaboratively within a small, friendly team to meet tight deadlines and service targets.


What We’re Looking For
  • Proven administrative experience in a busy office or public sector environment.
  • Strong IT skills, including accurate data entry and confident use of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Calm, empathetic, and professional manner when dealing with the public.
  • High levels of organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • A proactive, quick-thinking approach in a fast-paced setting.
Desirable:
  • Experience within housing, benefits, or local authority services.
