๐ŸŒŸ About the School Our client is a specialist SEN school in Kingston Upon Thames supporting children with complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech, language, and communication difficulties. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where each childโ€™s developmental and communication needs are at the heart of learning.

๐Ÿซ The Role We are looking for a skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis, helping them develop their speech, language, and communication skills. You will work closely with teachers, speech and language therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised support and interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist children with complex needs, focusing on speech, language, and communication development.
  • Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and targeted interventions.
  • Encourage social interaction, confidence, and independence.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to teachers and therapists.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
โœ… Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly those with speech and language needs.
  • Experience working 1:1 or in small groups.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive approach.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Understanding Autism, Counselling Skills, Mental Health Awareness) are highly desirable.
