About the Role

We are currently working with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Streatham seeking a dedicated Cognitive Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This role focuses on supporting pupils who require additional help with cognitive development, learning processes, and academic engagement.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils who may experience learning difficulties, processing challenges, or developmental delays, helping them build confidence and access the curriculum in a structured and supportive way.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in education, psychology, or child development, who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group learning support for pupils with cognitive learning needs
  • Adapt and reinforce classroom activities to support understanding, memory, and processing skills
  • Assist pupils with literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving tasks
  • Support the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement with learning
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and support staff to monitor pupil progress
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with children in a school, tutoring, or support role
  • Understanding of SEN, learning difficulties, or cognitive development
  • A patient, supportive, and structured approach to learning support
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Backgrounds in psychology, education, youth work, or support work are highly desirable
