Children's Occupational Therapist, Wokingham.

Grade 8 Children Occupational Therapist - South East England. 

This Occupational Therapist (OT) position is commissioned on an "as-and-when" basis, specifically to perform specialist harness assessments and fittings for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) utilising council-operated home-to-school transport. You may be called upon 2 to 4 times per month, sometime more, sometime less as it is dependent on demand. It is unlikely that you will be required on a weekly basis and will be called upon when needed. It is expected that each assessment will between 1 and 3 hours depending on the individual needs of the child.

Core Responsibilities:

• Specialist Assessment:Evaluate individual children's needs regarding safety harnesses and seating arrangements during transportation, ensuring the equipment supports their specific physical and developmental needs.
• Harness Fitting: Professionally fit harnesses and other safety equipment, ensuring suitability, safety, and comfort. Provide clear documentation on appropriate use and adjustments.
• Compliance and Safety: Guarantee that all assessments and equipment recommendations comply with statutory health and safety regulations and guidelines for transporting SEND children.
• Advisory Role: Offer professional guidance to council transport teams, PAs, and families on best practices in transporting SEND children safely and comfortably.

Must Have: 

• Registered with the HCPC as an Occupational Therapist.
• Professional Qualification in Occupational Therapy (Diploma or degree)
• Enhanced DBS for Adults and Children.
