Job Description
This vibrant and welcoming SEND school in South Birmingham is seeking a confident and committed QTS Maths Teacher to join their team and teach small classes of Key Stage 3/4 students with moderate to complex learning needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a Maths Teacher who enjoys teaching in a highly personalised setting where lessons can be carefully tailored to meet the needs of mixed-ability learners.
The school supports children with special educational needs and offers small class sizes of no more than six pupils. You will be supported by experienced Teaching Assistants, allowing you to focus on high-quality teaching, relationship building, and delivering meaningful progress in Maths.
The Role:
- Teaching Maths to small classes of pupils with SEND
- Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated Maths lessons
- Adapting teaching to meet mixed-ability learning needs
- Creating a calm, structured and positive learning environment
- Working closely with Teaching Assistants to support learning
- Monitoring progress and supporting individual learning targets
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong subject knowledge in Math
- Confidence teaching mixed-ability classes
- Experience teaching pupils with SEND (desirable but not essential)
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- A patient, flexible and inclusive approach
- Very small class sizes (no more than six pupils)
- High levels of Teaching Assistant support
- A supportive and approachable leadership team
- A positive working environment with a strong focus on pupil outcome
