Job Description
A welcoming and well-resourced Primary SEND school in Birmingham is seeking an experienced HLTA – Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support an outstanding teacher within an EYFS class. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident HLTA who is passionate about early years SEND education and enjoys working in a nurturing, structured and highly supportive environment.
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning within the EYFS classroom. You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging activities, provide targeted support for pupils with additional needs, and help create a calm and inclusive learning environment where children can thrive.
The Role:
- Supporting an outstanding class teacher within an EYFS SEND classroom
- Delivering small group and targeted interventions
- Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including Autism and communication difficulties
- Assisting with planning, preparation and delivery of learning activities
- Promoting communication, social development and early learning skills
- Helping to maintain a structured, nurturing and safe learning environment
- Supporting pupils’ emotional regulation and engagement
- HLTA qualification and significant equivalent experience
- Previous experience working within a SEND or specialist school
- Experience supporting children in EYFS or early years settings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A patient, nurturing and flexible approach
- Confidence supporting learning activities and leading small groups
- A supportive and welcoming Primary SEND school environment
