Behaviour Mentor – Alternative Provision
Are you passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to learning? Do you have the resilience, patience and commitment needed to work with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? This alternative provision in South Birmingham is looking to appoint a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support students who require additional guidance to re-engage with education.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who may display challenging behaviours and require additional emotional and behavioural support. You will provide mentoring, guidance and 1-2-1 support in lessons, helping students to manage their behaviour, stay engaged with learning and build positive relationships. Working alongside teachers and support staff, you will play a key role in creating a supportive environment where students can develop confidence, resilience and the skills they need to succeed. Previous experience working with challenging behaviours or supporting young people with barriers to learning is essential.

Job Role:
  • Providing 1-2-1 mentoring and in-class support for students with SEMH needs
  • Supporting students to manage behaviour and remain engaged in learning
  • Building positive relationships to encourage confidence and trust
  • Helping students develop coping strategies and emotional regulation skills
  • Supporting teachers in managing behaviour within lessons
  • Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning and school
  • Monitoring and reporting on student progress and behaviour
  • Contributing to a supportive and structured learning environment
