Pastoral Lead – Alternative Provision - ASAP Start
Are you an experienced Pastoral Lead or Head of Year with a passion for supporting young people who face barriers to education? Do you have the skills and resilience to work with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours? This alternative provision is looking to appoint a dedicated Pastoral Lead to support students who have been excluded from mainstream education and help them re-engage with learning in a supportive environment.

As a Pastoral Lead, you will play a key role in supporting students both emotionally and behaviourally, helping them to overcome challenges and build the skills needed to succeed in education. You will mentor students, provide guidance and work closely with teaching staff to create a structured and supportive environment where young people can rebuild confidence and develop positive behaviours. You will also work with families and external agencies to ensure students receive the support they need. This role requires a Pastoral Lead with previous experience as a Pastoral Lead, Behaviour Lead or Head of Year who is confident working with students who display challenging behaviours.

Job Role:
  • Leading the pastoral support for students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours
  • Mentoring and supporting students who have been excluded from mainstream education
  • Helping young people re-engage with learning and develop positive attitudes towards school
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies across the provision
  • Building positive relationships with students to support emotional wellbeing and progress
  • Working closely with teaching staff, families and external agencies
  • Monitoring behaviour, attendance and pastoral progress
  • Contributing to a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
