Job Description
Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to support young people with additional learning needs? Do you want to work in a school where you can make a real difference to students’ education and wellbeing? This specialist SEND school in South Birmingham is looking to appoint a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to support secondary-aged pupils in a nurturing and well-supported environment.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide both 1-2-1 and small group support for students with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Down’s Syndrome and communication impairments. You will play a key role in helping students engage with learning, develop independence and build confidence in a structured and inclusive setting.
Job Role:
- Providing 1-2-1 and small group support for secondary-aged students with SEND
- Supporting pupils with Autism, MLD, Down’s Syndrome and communication needs
- Assisting with the delivery of lessons and adapting activities to meet individual needs
- Helping students develop communication, independence and social skills
- Supporting behaviour management and promoting positive engagement
- Working closely with teachers and other support staff
- Monitoring and reporting on student progress and wellbeing
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Work in a supportive and well-resourced SEND school
- Be part of a collaborative and experienced staff team
- Gain valuable experience supporting a wide range of additional needs
- Receive ongoing support and guidance from leadership and teaching staff
