Job Description

Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you a psychology graduate keen to gain experience supporting young people with additional needs in a secondary school setting?

*** Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** September 2025 to July 2026
*** £80 - £100 per day
*** ‘Good’ secondary school, Walsall
*** SEN support across the KS4 national curriculum

The Role:
This full-time, term-time role involves working closely with the school’s SEN department to provide targeted academic and emotional support to pupils across Key Stage 4. As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a range of additional needs, helping them engage with the curriculum, manage their behaviour, and build confidence. Your responsibilities will include 1:1 support, small group work, and in-class assistance. You’ll help pupils stay on task, understand subject content, and develop positive learning habits.

The Candidate:
This role is ideal for a psychology graduate who is considering a future career in educational psychology, teaching, or child development. You must be empathetic, patient, and able to build strong relationships with young people. A good understanding of SEN, particularly Autism and ADHD, is beneficial, and any previous experience working with children or adolescents—whether in schools, youth work, or voluntary settings—will be a strong advantage.

The School:
Located in Walsall, this ‘Good’ rated secondary school is known for its inclusive ethos and strong pastoral support. The SEN department is well-established and offers excellent guidance to new staff. You’ll be joining a team that values professional development and invests in graduates who want to make a long-term impact in education or psychology.

Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
