Job Description

Teacher Training – Maths

Looking to train as a Maths Teacher in Birmingham without paying tuition fees?

  • Paid teacher training opportunity in a central Birmingham secondary school
  • £18,000 – £21,000 salary while you train, with QTS on completion
  • Full-time, term-time role starting September 2025
  • Temp to perm route leading to a permanent teaching post
  • No tuition fees – all training costs are covered by the school

The Role
You’ll join the school in a full-time Maths support role in September, working closely with experienced teachers, supporting pupils in class and in small groups. From January, you’ll begin your formal teacher training while remaining on-site – gaining QTS by July. This salaried route means no university fees and a smooth transition into your ECT year. It’s a practical, hands-on way into teaching, designed for high-achieving graduates who are committed to a long-term career in education.

The Candidate
You’ll need a Maths-related degree (2:2 or above), strong A-Levels (including Maths), and solid GCSEs. Experience working with young people is a plus, but not essential – what matters is your ability to explain Maths clearly, stay calm under pressure, and build rapport with pupils. You should be ready to commit fully to the training process and thrive in a fast-paced, urban school environment.

The School
This large, well-organised secondary in central Birmingham serves a diverse intake and has a strong reputation for developing future teachers. You’ll be part of a collaborative Maths department with a clear curriculum, excellent behaviour systems, and senior leaders who invest in their staff. Their training programme is structured, supportive, and proven to lead to long-term teaching careers.

Apply now if you're a Maths graduate who wants to train on the job, earn while you learn, and start your teaching career in a supportive school environment.
