Job Description
Are you a graduate who wants a full-year of KS2 experience while helping pupils prepare confidently for SATs?
- KS2 Graduate Teaching Assistant
- September 2026 to July 2027 (academic year)
- £85 - £105 per day
- ‘Good’ primary school, Wolverhampton
- Provide key academic support to help with SATs preparation
If you want your school experience to genuinely prepare you for applying for a PGCE, this KS2 Graduate Teaching Assistant role gives you a full academic year of targeted, high-impact work in Year 5 or Year 6. You will help pupils close gaps in reading, writing and maths, build exam confidence, and develop the routines and consistency that drive progress in the run-up to the KS2 tests in May.
The Role
- You will deliver focused 1:1 and small group SATs interventions in reading, maths and SPaG.
- You will run short, structured sessions that practise key skills, not generic “extra work”.
- You will support pupils with arithmetic fluency, reasoning methods and core number facts.
- You will build reading stamina, comprehension strategies and confident use of evidence from the text.
- You will reinforce grammar, punctuation and spelling through targeted practice and clear modelling.
- You will help pupils develop test technique, including working independently and managing time.
- You will track small wins and gaps, then feed back clearly to the class teacher.
- You will follow safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times and report concerns immediately.
The Candidate
- You will have a 2:2 degree or above in any subject (English, Maths, Psychology or Education is useful, but not essential).
- You will have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
- You will be calm, consistent and confident working with KS2 pupils.
- You will communicate clearly and build positive relationships quickly.
- You will be organised, reliable and happy to deliver the same intervention consistently to get results.
- You will have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or you will be willing to obtain one.
The School
This ‘Good’ primary school in Wolverhampton has clear routines, strong leadership and a focused approach to progress in KS2. Intervention work is well planned and purposeful, and you will get clear guidance on what to deliver and how to measure impact. You will join a supportive team that values high standards, calm consistency, and pupils feeling confident as they move into secondary school.
Apply
Apply today with your CV to be considered for this KS2 Graduate Teaching Assistant role. If you are shortlisted, we will contact you within 3 working days to discuss the school and next steps.
Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
