Workshop Fitter

We are looking for a skilled Workshop Fitter to join our client’s maintenance team within a busy foundry environment. This is a temp-to-perm position offering long-term stability, excellent pay, and a chance to develop your mechanical and electrical maintenance skills in a hands-on, industrial setting.
As part of the maintenance team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring all foundry machinery and plant equipment operate efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities of this Workshop Fitter role:
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and servicing of foundry and workshop machinery.
  • Assist with basic electrical fault-finding and repair where required.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks (MIG/Stick) as needed.
  • Support with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
  • Respond to breakdowns and callouts (1 week in 4 on a rota basis).
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and ensure health & safety procedures are followed.
  • Support production teams by identifying and resolving equipment issues quickly and effectively.
Skills & Experience Required for this Workshop Fitter role:
  • Strong mechanical maintenance background (hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, gearboxes, etc.).
  • Basic electrical knowledge – 3-phase, control panels, sensors, motors.
  • Basic MIG/Stick welding skills would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience working in a foundry, heavy engineering, or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • FLT licence desirable (training may be provided).
  • Proactive approach, good problem-solving ability, and strong attention to detail.
