We’re seeking a proactive PR and Communications Manager to lead ongoing campaigns, media engagement, and content creation that showcase the region as a world-class destination for visitors and events.
This role is perfect for someone passionate about place promotion, storytelling, and creating memorable campaigns that drive awareness and attract visitors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Communications Strategy & Delivery
- Develop and execute a full-funnel communications strategy for visitor audiences.
- Segment audiences including consumers, event organisers, stakeholders, and policymakers.
- Set measurable KPIs and monitor performance through tracking and evaluation tools.
- Lead earned media strategies to secure coverage across relevant publications.
- Shape the regional story to promote tourism and events, creating core messaging for campaigns.
- Produce high-quality editorial, briefings, and copy that resonate with target audiences.
- Identify storytelling opportunities through media partnerships, news-jacking, speaking events, and corporate campaigns.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure messaging reflects the region’s evolving offer.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international media outlets.
- Produce press releases, statements, op-eds, speeches, and other materials to highlight key initiatives.
- Brief senior leaders and stakeholders to support media engagement and coverage.
- Promote regional destination initiatives through multi-channel campaigns.
- Develop stakeholder communications, including email campaigns, to showcase successes.
- Gather insights, case studies, and content from key partners to drive engagement.
- Written Communication: Proven ability to create engaging, high-quality content. Experience in destination or place promotion is a plus.
- Project Management: Skilled at managing projects, communications plans, and stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
- Hands-on Execution: Comfortable producing content, managing media, pitching stories, and reporting results.
- Creativity & Adaptability: Forward-thinking, strategic, and able to experiment with new formats and channels.
- Passion for Tourism: Genuine enthusiasm for promoting destinations and driving a thriving visitor economy.
- Strong editorial and copywriting skills for press releases, speeches, and op-eds.
- Solid understanding of media relations and how to secure coverage across trade and national outlets.
- Knowledge of earned and paid media reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines collaboratively.
- Strong attention to detail and proactive mindset.
- Experience in building relationships across multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in tourism, place promotion, or regional economic development.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, email marketing, and digital content optimisation.
- Knowledge of SEO principles and digital user journeys.
- Experience creating multi-channel campaigns targeting domestic and international audiences.
- Experience writing speeches for senior leaders or public figures.
