About the role:
BCFT is seeking a passionate and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join their Care Leavers Team, with a specialist focus on supporting Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people navigating complex transitions.
You will be part of a dedicated team that provides tailored support to UASC care leavers, ensuring their needs are met with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and professional excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake Brief Enquiries and Merton Compliant Age Assessments in line with statutory guidance and best practice.
• Provide high-quality social work support to UASC, promoting their welfare, independence, and integration.
• Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to develop and implement care and pathway plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with legal and organisational requirements.
• Contribute to the development of the specialist UASC service within the Care Leavers Team.
• About You
• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Trained and experienced in conducting age assessments.
• Proven experience working with UASC or similar vulnerable young people.
• Strong understanding of immigration, asylum, and safeguarding frameworks.
• Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
• Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and cultural competence.

To be considered for this post you must be registered with Social Work England and at least 3 years’ post qualifying experience across permanent positions in England.
 
What you need:

• A degree in Social Work or equivalent
• Registered with Social Care Wales/ Social Work England
• Completed relevant post-qualifying training
• Enhanced DBS check
• Excellent communication and written skills
