About the Role:
A North West London local authority is seeking a motivated and professional Planning Officer to join their Regeneration and Sustainable Development team. This is a career-graded role (G6–G9), offering the opportunity to grow within the organisation based on experience and performance. The role will focus on either development management, planning policy, or enforcement, depending on the successful candidate’s background.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a planner at various stages of their career to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, sustainable development across a dynamic and evolving London borough.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, manage, and report on planning applications across residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality development outcomes in line with national and local policy.
  • Conduct site visits, stakeholder meetings, and consultations with residents and developers.
  • Prepare written reports and recommendations for delegated decisions or planning committee.
  • Provide general planning advice and respond to enquiries from the public and stakeholders.
  • Assist with enforcement investigations, policy development, and appeal preparation as required.
  • Monitor planning conditions and support project delivery through all stages of the development process.
  • Engage with internal teams, elected members, and external bodies to support the council’s strategic objectives.
About You We welcome applications from candidates across the planning career spectrum:
Essential (depending on grade):
  • Knowledge of UK town planning legislation, development control, and local policy.
  • Relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in town planning or equivalent (RTPI-accredited preferred).
  • Strong report writing, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Able to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience in a local authority planning, enforcement, or policy team.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred (site visits required).
