Mobile Building Services Engineer (Electrical Bias)

Salary: Up to £48,000 per year
Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Location: Central & Greater London (within the M25)
Call-Out Rota: 1 week in 7 (24/7/365 rotational cover)
Overtime: Time and a half or double time, plus £150 standby allowance
Head Office: Bishop’s Stortford



About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mobile Building Services Engineer (Electrical Bias) to support a portfolio of commercial and residential sites across Central and Greater London.
This role focuses primarily on electrical maintenance, compliance, and fault resolution, while also providing multi-skilled support across wider building services when required. You will attend multiple sites daily, ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with current regulations.



Key Responsibilities
  • Planned, reactive, and statutory electrical maintenance
  • Fixed wire testing (EICR), PAT testing, and statutory inspections in line with 18th Edition (BS7671)
  • Maintenance of lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting, fire alarm interfaces, and control systems
  • Fault diagnosis, isolation, and repair
  • Small installation works, upgrades, and modifications
  • Completion of all certification and compliance documentation
  • Responding to electrical emergencies promptly and safely
  • Supporting basic mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC tasks when required
  • Maintaining accurate job records and providing professional client updates
  • Ensuring full compliance with health & safety regulations


Requirements
Essential Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance (or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
  • City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent
  • Full UK driving licence
Experience
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance across commercial or residential sites
  • Competence in inspection, testing, fault finding, and repairs
  • Experience with both planned preventative maintenance and reactive callouts

  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical manuals
  • Clear communication and reporting skills
  • IT literate (mobile devices and job management systems)
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
